Letter to SMBA Families
Hello SMBA Families,

The Simcoe Minor Baseball Executive is still hard at work preparing for our 2021 season.

Right now we are just waiting for the provincial stay at home order to be lifted, so we can start our season. We won't know what the season will look like until we get more information from the government, but SMBA is preparing to have as close to a normal season as possible.

Currently we have over 340 players who have registered on our website. From these numbers, we are attempting to put teams together at both the House League and Rep level.

Our stumbling block is that we are unsure if all of these over 340 players are fully committed to playing this season, or not.

SMBA is also incurring costs to make sure we are prepared for the upcoming season.
Due to the information above, SMBA is asking all committed players to make a $50 payment, to secure their position on a team for 2021.
This $50 payment will be part of the registration fee for 2021, and the remaining registration fee will be due at a later date. It is highly unlikely, but if there is no baseball season at all, the $50 payment will be refunded. Once we know what the provincial regulations are and we begin to form groups/teams, those who have committed by making payment will be placed in these groups/teams first. If payment has not been received and we need to limit or cut off numbers, those who have not secured payment could lose their spot.

To allow everyone to make an informed decision, we wanted to make everyone aware that COVID protocols will still be in place for 2021.
The main protocol to be aware of, is the fact that all players and coaches are required to wear masks while NOT on the playing field. While on the field of play, masks are recommended.
Also, it is recommended that all players have their own helmet and bat, but SMBA will provide equipment which will need to be sanitized after each use.
Finally, It is possible that we may start the season under strict guidelines, which may only allow 1 parent or guardian to attend games/practices, similar to how hockey was this past season.

To make payment, please submit a $50 e-transfer to [email protected]
When submitting the payment, please include the players name, and the division they are playing in.
You may make one payment for multiple players, but please make sure you include the Name and division for each player in the message.

Please make payment by Friday May 28th, as we are hoping the provincial lockdown is lifted June 2nd and we can start immediately after that.

If you have any questions, you can reply to this email.

Thanks,

SMBA
