Midget Tier 1 wins home Tournament
SMBA's Midget Tier 1 team went 4-1 the weekend of May 27-29, and won their home Simcoe tournament.

The team started the weekend Friday with a 12-1 win over Pickering.
Saturday morning they beat the Kitchener Panthers 4-0 with Austin Topp pitching a complete game shutout.
Saturday evening they lost 8-4 to Ancaster, but with a 2-1 record they finished second in their pool and moved to Sunday morning where they would play Brantford.
This was a game for the ages.  Brantford scored 1 run in the top of the 1st, and Simcoe scored a run in the bottom of the 2nd. The score stayed 1-1 until extra innings was needed.  Brantford didn't score in the top of the 8th, but Simcoe was able to push a run across to walk off the game and move to the Finals. Jeryn Shortt pitched 7 2/3 innings, striking out 10.

The finals was a revenge game against Ancaster for the defeat on Saturday afternoon.

With the game tied 0-0 after 3 innings, Simcoe pushed 2 runs across in the 4th inning.  They also managed 6 runs in the 5th and 3 runs in the 6th to end the game and win the championship with an 11-0 win.
Andrew Auld pitched 6 innings of shut out baseball, and had 9 strikeouts.

Congratulations to the SMBA Midget Tier 1 Giants sponsored by the Simcoe Lions Club.
