Tournament Recap: 12U
This weekend the 12U team hosted the 12U / Minor Peewee Tournament and ended the weekend as champs!
On Friday night the Giants scored fourteen runs in the first inning, helping them defeat Bloordale Bombers 15-6.
On Saturday the Giants started the day against the Orangeville Bengals and although they collected eight hits, the strong hitting was not enough as they fell 11-8. The second game of the day saw the Giants rally, coming out on top of their game against the Niagara Falls Falcons, winning 15-2. In the third game of the day, the Giants won thanks, in part, to the sixteen runs they put up in the first inning, finishing the game with a 19-8 win over the Centre Wellington Eagles.
Even with their 3-1 record, the Giants squeaked into the Semis with a three-way tie coming down to the smallest runs against ratio: runs allowed/number of defensive innings played. Their second place finish in their pool had them up against the North London Nationals, winning 7-3.
In the Finals, the Giants had a rematch from the Brantford tournament against the Welland Junior Jackfish. It was a high-scoring affair on both sides but our Giants came out on top with a 20-10 win, ending the tournament as champs!
Congrats, Giants!
